Accountant - SMG

Position Title: Accountant
Location: Monroeville, PA
Position Reports to: Controller and CFO
Primary Schedule: Full-Time Exempt, Monday-Friday (on site)

Sampson Morris Group is currently seeking an Accountant to maintain accurate financial records and perform day-to-day accounting functions that support SMG’s financial integrity and operational goals.

Qualifications; Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 2-5 years’ experience, public accounting preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Proficiency in financial/accounting management systems; experience with ProSystem fx Tax Software and Yardi a plus
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening and effective verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment or independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience in real state or property management a plus

Job Dimensions: Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with maintaining and reconciling the general ledger and trial balance for a diverse real estate portfolio of 100+ entities
  • Support the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and payroll functions as needed
  • Assist in the monthly closing process, including preparation of journal entries
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Prepare and provide financial documentation for banking institutions as requested
  • Conduct financial analysis and effectively communicate results to various levels of management
  • Review accounts to ensure accuracy, proper recordkeeping, and adherence to budgetary guidelines
  • Assist in the organization and maintenance of company financial records and files
  • Support the Senior Accountant with Commercial CAM reconciliations
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and participates in special projects as assigned
  • Perform accurate and timely data entry tasks
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Controller and CFO

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time. Frequently required to stand, bend, reach overhead and occasionally lift office products and other items up to 25 lbs. Regularly required to talk and hear to communicate and exchange information via phone, computer, or other electronic devise, and can see both near and far with or without accommodations.

Maintenance Technician (SMG-RIMCO)

Sampson Morris Group (SMG-RIMCO) is a residential real estate organization in Western PA managing over 3,500 residential units.

We are currently looking to hire a full-time Maintenance Technician for the Delmont area to maintain and repair all aspects of the building and property including, but not limited to, the exterior and interior of the buildings, turnover of units, and resident work requests.

Position Requirements:

  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance skills and techniques
  • General skill or knowledge within carpentry, electrical, plumbing, AC repair, and flooring installation
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Previous experience in a maintenance role
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Job Description:

  • Construct, repair, and install building frameworks, including walls, floors, door frames, and other structures made from wood and other materials
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team and property manager as necessary to inform and discuss any problems or concerns that may arise to ensure proper action can be initiated
  • Procure materials for maintenance or construction of homes or apartments
  • Perform preventative maintenance as assigned to grounds, mobile homes, townhomes and apartments
  • Ensure that vacant homes and apartments are made ready for occupancy in a timely manner
  • Shovel snow, operate a snow blower and apply ice-melt as necessary
  • Attend staff meetings, industry trade shows and educational seminars as directed by your manager
  • Immediately respond to emergencies and calls when on-call
  • Perform any other tasks as directed by management

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to walk long distances within the communities/properties and routinely climb stairs and ladders. Must frequently lift objects up to 50 lbs. Regularly required to stand, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch and crawl, and reach overhead and use hands/fingers in order to perform job duties. Regularly required to talk and hear in order to communicate and exchange information via phone, computer, or other electronic device, and have the ability to see both near and far with or without accommodation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 – $21.00 per hour
